To SEB tennis month already signed up 186 participants

In May for the second year is held “SEB Tennis Month” during which every enthusiast is invited to get acquainted with the game of tennis. For the first 10 days in 186 people have expressed their willingness to participate in a free training tennis in tennis clubs throughout Latvia. Registration and free tennis lessons will continue until the end of May.

Aiming to promote the game of tennis among young people and to develop the traditions of tennis at the professional level, SEB bank and Latvian Tennis Union (LTS) joined forces for already two years to organize SEB tennis month and to support a variety of professional tennis activities.

SEB bank president Ainars Ozols, “Tennis, in a way, is like a chess game, only in movement. AT tennis court both mind and body are working and this is what makes this sport particularly exciting. In addition, tennis is a democratic sport – for example – last year to free training applied 216 participants, of whom the youngest was 6 years old but the oldest – 61. I am delighted that this year in first 10 days 186 participants have already signed up. That shows, that last year’s participant number will be surpassed.”

You can apply for a free tennis lessons is possible at tennis clubs in Riga, Jurmala, Adazi, Ventspils, Jelgava, Liepaja and Garkalne during “SEB tennis month”. You just have to fill out the application form in social network Project is supported by 8 tennis clubs: “Riga Traffic Tennis Club” (Riga), Marupes tennis school tennis center “Adazi” (Adazi), Liepaja Tennis Sports School (Liepaja), Jelgava Tennis Centre (Jelgava), Terezas Stenclavas tennis school (Jurmala) Garkalne tennis school (Garkalne) and tennis club Ventspils (Ventspils).

To support the growth of new tennis players and to encourage them in professional sports, “SEB tennis month” will also include “SEB tennis spring festival” in which in a free competition will participate new Latvian tennis players in the U10 age groups: U8, U9, U10. While the young talented U14 team this year will have the opportunity to develop skills in the international training camp and world junior competitions.

Latvian Tennis Union president Juris Savickis: “Last year in August Latvian U14 boys’ team with a SEB bank support went to two highest category tournaments in German cities Ulm and Munich. Boys got invaluable experience for further development, because they had two full weeks with the best European young tennis players. We are pleased that this opportunity for young players will be given again this year.”
