Over the weekend, in Liepaja tennis courts took place Liepaja Tennis Sports School Open Championship, at which attended 58 participants from Latvia and Lithuania. The organizers are pleased to have such a great number of participants! The large number of entrants allowed to assume a very tough games for all age groups and so it was!
U-8 group for boys:
In this group were 8 participants, one of the main favorites was our student – Ricards Spaks. Until the final game seemed that Ricards will triumph in this competition, but the for intrigue took care the other finalist from Liepaja – Didzis Varna, who managed to win the final game with 12:10!
1st place – Didzis Vārna (Liepaja TSS, coach I.Kublačova);
2nd place – Ričards Špaks (Liepaja TSS, coach O.Bordjugova);
3rd place – Lauris Siksna (Liepaja TSS, coach O.Bordjugova).
U-8 group for girls:
At this group participated 13 players. In the final played girls that up to the final game didn’t enjoy the bitter of loss. Also, this final was a very interesting and exciting because none of the girls did not want to lose! However, this time a little more successful was Ksenija Rage from Riga, who won over Klera Nemmura from Riga with score – 11:9.
1st place – Ksenija Rage (Riga);
2nd place – Klēra Nemmūra (Riga);
3rd place – Tīna Namsone (Riga).
Best of our students at this group was Megija Sokolovska. In the game for 5th place she won over other our student – Amanda Frickausa.
U-9 group for boys:
In this group participated 13 players. The intrigue in this group was leaded by the draw, who brought the current best Latvian and Lithuanian players in the same group. As the participants themselves before the competition said, they were drawn in the “group of death”. It should be noted that by the format of competition only the group winner ensured to the fights for the award-winning places. Success and the experience this time was an ally of our student – Ricards Spaks – who managed to win all opponents in a group, as well at the final stage!
1st place – Dāvids Špaks (Liepaja TSS, coach O.Bordjugova);
2nd place – Haralds Rožkalns (Jaunmarupe);
3rd place – Roberts Rancāns (Jurmala).
U-9 group for girls:
In this group participated 11 girls. Also in this group there was intrigue, because in the race participated many powerful players. However, superiority and fighting spirit this time showed our students Evelina Kivite and Enija Paula Aplika, which also fought for first place in the tournament. Despite supposedly convincing victory of Evelina – 11:4 – the game itself was interesting enough, the girls tried to show their best game!
1st place – Evelīna Ķīvīte (Liepaja TSS, coach O.Bordjugova);
2nd place – Enija Paula Aploka (Liepaja TSS, coach O.Bordjugova);
3rd place – Viviāna Arinkina (Jurmala).
U-10 group for boys:
Despite the small number of participants – 5 players, the games were interesting. His first major success in this group showed our student Davis Rolis (2005), who managed to win all of the games and deservedly took the first place!
1st place – Dāvis Rolis (Liepaja TSS, coach O.Bordjugova);
2nd place – Igors Višņevskis (Klaipeda, Lithuania);
3rd place – Marks Matisons (Liepaja TSS, coach E.Reinfelde).
U-10 group for girls:
In this group participated 8 girls. We are glad that the whole podium was taken by Liepaja Tennis Sports School students.
1st place – Rebeka Zvirbule (Liepaja TSS, coach I.Kublačova);
2nd place – Karolīna Skābe (Liepaja TSS, coach E.Reinfelde);
3rd place – Paula Jankova (Liepaja TSS, coach E.Reinfelde).
