“Riga Open 2013” on the first day are planned 112 matches, Latvia has 49 participants

“Riga Open” tournament will take place 16th time – girls and boys will compete in four age groups (U12, U14, U16 and U18), in singles and doubles. The first matches took place on Saturday and Sunday, when the lower-ranked athletes participated in qualification to the Main tournament. Although the Sunday matches were little delayed because of rain, however, until the going down of the sun, all the planned games were complete. Successful ones were also a number of Latvian representatives. Today started Main tournament (singles tournaments in each age group – 32 participants, in doubles – 16 pairs).

In Viesturgarden (21 Rupniecibas Street) will play U18 athletes. In the first day are planned to play 24 games – to 12 singles games for the girls, 12 for the guys. In the boys tournament Latvia is represented by four players – last year’s champion Arkadijs Slobodkins, Reinis Bucens, Miks Pauls Losbergs and Rihards Breicis. At Girls race are six Latvians – Luize Liva Strike, Anna Ozerova, Annija Anna Veinsteina, Krista Cerpina, Alise Isajeva un Ariadna Blinova.

Meanwhile in Mezaparks “Riga Traffic” tennis courts (32 Ezermalas Street) will participate three age groups (U12, U14 and U16). In 11 courts are planned to play eight games in each, so the beginning of the games at 9:00. All three groups will play singles, but in the evening are also planned U12 doubles matches.
Latvia will be well represented in this group battles. In U12 girls group will fight Herta Uzkalne, Anna Jakovleva, Darja Semenistaja, Hardija Vidnere, Stefanija Poliscuka, Kamilla Mantulenko and Margarita Ignatjeva, but in boys group – Sergejs Nikusins, Valentins Lukjanskis, Roberts Jaricevskis, Markuss Holstroms, Renars Grodskis, Karlis Ozolins, Maksims Vasilenko and Rudolfs Aksenoks.

At U14 age group for girls Latvian expectations will be for Deniza Marcinkevica, Rebeka Mertena, Daniela Vismane, Irina Lapustina, Anna Marija Bukina and Sonja Olesova, but for boys – Roberts Grinvalds, Daniils Batmanovs, Teodors Pukse, Matiss Steinhards and Arturs Kulibaba. Finally, at the U16 girls competition our country will represent Viktorija Demcenkova, Gundega Pastore, Diana Baumbartnere, Elina Ziverte, Anna Babnejeva, Marta Pagraba, Gerda Upeniece and Darja Sumskaja, but for boys Maksims Nesins, Toms Sutris, Rudolfs Mednis, Andris Gudins and Gustavs Lukstins. So overall Latvia in Main tournament for singles games has 49 representatives!

Overall, “Riga Open 2013” visitors will be able to discover the best young tennis players from 30 different countries, which is a new record. Besides Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Russian and Belorussian delegations will fight young talents form other European countries, as well as the athletes from the United States, Canada , Azerbaijan, India and even Australia.

That makes this for a real tournament tennis holidays. A lot of thinking about competitors, creating special activities outside of matches. This year we have achieved a new record of participants – with the qualification tournament fights in this tournament participates 460 participants from 30 countries.
