The first ITF tournament in Liepaja has concluded

From September 5 till 12 in the courts of Liepaja Tennis Sport school for the first time took place ITF tournament. Even thou the weather at the beginning of the tournament was quite rainy, at the competition participated participants from 14 countries.Latvia was represented by 12 girls and 5 boys. Liepaja Tennis Sport school was represented by Rebeka Mertena, Marta Pagraba, Elīna Zīverte, Patrīcija Špaka and Toms Rolis. Rebekai won in the 1st round, but in the 2nd round she lost to this tournaments semifinalist from Russia – Anastasia Veselova with 3/6 7/5 6/4. Other our students lost already in the 1st round.Winner of this tournament became Daniela Vismane (Latvia). In final she won over tennis player from Lithuania – Iveta Daujotaite with 6/3 6/4. In boys competition the best success from Latvia had Roberts Grīnvalds from Riga, who lost in Semifinal to Polish representative and winner of this tournament – Piotr Smietana with 4/6 6/4 6/3. 2nd place took Maksymilian Raupuk from Poland.In Doubles the champion title won Latvian and Belarus duet Kamilla Bartone and Kseniya Yersh, who in Final won over Maria Krupenina (Russia) and Shalimar Talbi (Belarus) with 6/2 6/3. In boys Double competition champion title was won by Sebastian Grundtvig (Denmark) and Alexander Zgirovsky (Belarus), they with a 6/0 4/6 10-3 won over Belarus and Russian pair Artsiom Cherkasau and Andrei Molyak.We thank to the tournament supporters – “Hotel Līva”, Čili pica, Mexican restaurant Tex-Mex, Venden, Liepāja city Sport department and Liepāja city hall.All pictures from the tournament can be seen in “Gallery“.
