From June 30 till July 7 Liepaja Tennis Sport school students Dāvids Špaks and Karolīna Skābe participated at the Tennis Europe tournament “Vilnius tennis academy cup 2018” in Vilnius (Lithuania). Both our students began with the Qualifiers. Dāvids Špaks with two wins granted himself a place in Main Draw, but unfortunately Karolīna Skābe couldn’t qualify to Main Draw.In the 1st round of Main Draw Dāvids with 6-0 7-6(5) won over Hendrik Katmuk (Estonia), but in the game for Quarterfinals Dāvids in intense game with 0-6 6-4 2-6 lost to Iegor Opanasenko (Ukraine).Meanwhile from July 3 to 7 in Tallinn (Estonia) two Liepaja Tennis Sport school students – Elza Tomase and Patrīcija Špaka competed in ITF Junior Circuit tournament “17th Tallink Cup 2018” for U18. Both our students began the tournament already in Main draw.Elza Tomase in 1st Round with 6-1 6-4 won over Laura Laanbek (Estonia), but in the game for Quarterfinal Elza with 2-6 4-6 lost to 2nd seeded Elizaveta Dementyeva (Russia).
Patrīcija Špaka in 1st round with 6-2 6-2 won over Sofiya Chekhlystova (Estonia). In 2nd round with 6-1 6-1 Patrīcija had an easy win over Elena Malykh (Russia). But in the game for the Semifinal Patrīcija with 4-6 4-6 lost to Lissi Kubre (Estonia).Both our students competed as well in the Doubles, but they had different partners. Elza Tomase played with Laura Slišāne (Latvia) and they lost already in the 1st round to Julia Jelen (Poland) and Marketa Panackova (Czech Republic). Meanwhile Patrīcija Špaka played together with Lissi Kubre (Estonia), who won over Patrīcija in the Singles tournament. In intense 1st round game Patrīcija and Lissi won over Russian pair Elena Malykh and Elizabet Anna Mintusova with 7-5 2-6 [10-8]. In the game for the Semifinal Patrīcija and Lissi with 6-4 7-5 won over other Russian pair – Lidiia Rasskovskaia and Daria Repina. For getting into the Final Patrīcijai and Lissi had to defeat Latvian pair Margarita Ignatjeva and Stefānija Poliščuk. With 3-6 1-6 Patrīcija and Lissi lost and couldn’t get into the Doubles Final.
