Patrīcija Špaka takes double win at Juniors ITF tournament

August 21-25 in Riga took place Juniors ITF tournament “Riga Open – Inspired by Tennis”. Liepaja Tennis sport school was represented by Valerijs Vorobjovs, Elza Tomase, Patrīcija Špaka, Alise Vindiga and Anastasija Rižkova.At boys competition Valerijs Vorobjovs in 1st round with 6-2 7-5 won over Matas Bruzas (Lithuania), but in the game for Quarterfinal Valerijs with 0-6 3-6 lost to Oscar Weightman (Great Britain).At girls competition our Alise Vindiga and Anastasija Rižkova had to begin with Qualifiers, but they couldn’t pass it. Meanwhile, Elza Tomase and Patrīcija Špaka began the tournament already in Main draw and Patrīcija Špaka was 2nd seeded. Elza Tomase in 1st round with 7-6(3) 6-1 won over Fausta Zykute (Lithuania), but in the game for Quarterfinals Elza lost to Nastasja Mariana Schunk (Germany) with 6-4 2-6 2-6. Patrīcija Špaka in 1st round with 6-1 6-2 won over Kristina Kudryavtseva (Russia). In 2nd round Patrīcija with 6-2 6-0 won over Laura Slišāne (Latvia), but in the game for getting into the Semifinal, Patrīcija with an easy 6-1 6-1 managed to get over Ksenia Aleshina (Russia). In intense game with 7-6(1) 6-7(2) 6-2 Patrīcija granted her place in Final, by passing over Iveta Daujotaite (Lithuania). In Final Patrīcija met against Ella Haavisto (Finland) and with 6-2 6-1 Patrīcija Špaka triumphed in Juniors ITF tournament!Elza Tomase and Patrīcija Špaka competed at Doubles as well, but they both chose different partners – Elza played together with Michelle Tikhonko (USA), meanwhile Patrīcija played together with Iveta Daujotaite (Lithuania). Our both players with their partners met in the Quarterfinals and with 6-4 7-5 victory was taken by Patrīcija Špaka and Iveta Daujotaite. Both girls managed to get till the Final, where they won with 6-3 6-4 over Latvian pair Margarita Ignatjeva and Stefānija Poļisčuk. So at the end our Patrīcija Špaka took the double victory at the Juniors ITF tournament “Riga Open”! Congratulations!
