From 23 to 27 August, the Tennis Europe competition for the U12 age group – “Liepaja International Tournament” – took place in Liepaja. A total of 71 young tennis players from Europe took part in the tournament. The winner of the competition was Tsikhan Koran from Belarus and Kiira Pashkov from Estonia. Our Elizabete Marta Hamitova won the 2nd place in singles, but Anna Azarova won the 2nd place in doubles. Meanwhile, Gustavs Brižs, Paula Gurecka, Alise Latiša and Elizabete Marta Hamitova took the shared 3rd place in the doubles competition.
Liepaja Tennis sport school was represented by Gustavs Brižs, Paula Gurecka, Alise Latiša, Elizabete Marta Hamitova and Anna Azarova.
The participants of the tournament in Singles were divided into eight subgroups/divisions, within which games were played with each opponent from the subgroup. After that, the best of the subgroups continued to fight for victory in the Playoffs.
With the result 6-2 6-1 victory in the boys Singles was won by the representative of Belarus – Tsikhan Koran, while Latvian Ēriks Valeinis took the 2nd place.
In boys Doubles the tournament was won by Latvians – Ralfs Upenieks and Ēriks Valeinis, leaving in the 2nd place Tsikhan Koran from Belarus and Ugnius Remeikis from Lithuania.
In girls Singles the victory of the tournament was celebrated by Estonian Kiira Pashkov. In the 2nd place landed our own Elizabete Marta Hamitova.
In girls Doubles the victory was taken by Estonians Kiira Pashkov and Eleanora Roos. Runer-up’s were our Anna Azarova, who played with other Latvian – Keisija Bērziņa.
